Conversation Groups
The following criteria need to be met if a group is using the Transforming Conversation (TC) identity (name, logo, etc).
- The Group is led by a recognised TC facilitator.
- It aims to provide a safe, facilitated, focused and inclusive space.
- It follows the basic outline of a TC group.
Recognised TC facilitators (and others) may use aspects of the process or method but should not identify these settings as TC groups.
A TC group would usually include:
- Facilitators’ preparation
- Welcome
- Ground rules
- Introduction to stimulus material/theme
- Individual reflection time
- Conversation
- Review and closing
- Refreshments and/or informal conversation
Conversation Groups usually meet for a set number of sessions. These are either agreed at an introductory meeting, specified before the group starts or agreed with the group at an early session. Groups may choose to continue to meet but this should be regularly reviewed, with the intention of maintaining accessibility by new participants and not imposing expectations on existing participants
